RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — Officials said they received a 911 call from a citizen who told them they saw what looked like a body, or remains of a dead animal, near train tracks on Panorama Road in Riverside on Sunday.
The call came in just after midnight.
The Riverside County Sheriff/Coroner’s Office responded to the scene along with detectives from the robbery/homicide unit.
Authorities determined the remains were, indeed, a human body.
The identity of the victim is unknown but it is believed to be a female of an indeterminate age.
No other information is known about the victim or the cause of death.
Officials did say the body was not struck by a train.
An autopsy is pending to determine the victim’s identity and cause of death.
